wanderer

I went out walking under an atomic sky
where the ground won’t turn
and the rain it burns
like the tears when I said goodbye

As you might have surmised the wonderful wandering through Europe have come and gone and we lived to tell the amazing tales. But I have been sadly slack in getting the rest of the pics, and a bit of the rest of the stories up here. And they are deserving. It was a great adventure.

Our time in Edinburgh was fixed before we left - the raison d’etre for the trip (I can’t be bothered to figure out how to circonflexe that sucker so leave me alone). But, beyond that, I felt the need to go wondering/wandering and just follow my nose around Scotland for a bit. I have some ghosts here and I guess I felt the need to go check them out. I had a final destination in mind but no real need to get there in any, specific, way. Or perhaps there was one simple checkpoint…

A trip to Scotland would not be complete without a trip to Luss and the tea and scones. If I lived within 100 kilometres of Luss I would eat here everyday:

I went out riding, down that ol’eight lane
I passed by a thousand signs
looking for my own name

And so we found ourselves navigating our way through the valleys, hills, sheep, surf and haunted barns of Argyle down to Cambeltown where, somewhere, sometime, someone once told me was named Lochhead. There certainly are some magnets here that draw me and I had to come even thought it was not easy. I can’t help but wonder if I will come this way again or if these are the final Davaar steps for me. Morbid, rainy, slippery rocks, thoughts. The mountain goats ambush us and lighten my mood and the stalking-us-every-time-we-open-the-car-door Scottish rain washes away the remnants of my tears.

nothing but the thought of you
