It’s been a stellarly long time in coming which is a shame because it’s really so worth being talked about but I thought that, at long last, I should talk about my ‘new’ job.
There have been enough disastrous job related blog posts out there that I don’t want to continue that trend (even though I certainly don’t see that happening here) but given that I have nothing but positive things to say, I think I’ll be able to stay out of trouble.
I work at Mountain Equipment Co-op and have since early October, 2006. What can I say? I absolutely love it. It’s been a great place to work as I get my legs underneath me again. Full of awesome people, it’s a very positive environment.
Scarpa, corn bags, Patagonia, vestibule, G3, Blurr, ethics, Chaco, rand, Prana, turtle-lights, MSR, OR, Petzl, steamers and shortys, dynafit, Garmond, the environment – these, among many many others, are among my job-related realities these days.
Being essentially paid to learn how to backcountry ski, get my avalanche safety training, and surf - how many jobs offer wondrous perks like this?
I remember, while working at WebCT, that I was constantly amazed by the diversity in the questions. I don’t think that it mattered how long that you worked there – you could always expect to be asked a question that you had never heard before. Even though there’s less of that here, the same thing occurs. Some of the questions make me scratch my head; many of them make me laugh.

Hey, I can use one of those tents too
