Talk Without Speaking

Just got home from the historic final night at the Varsity theatre. If you’re in my circle of friends you likely know this theatre as TOPAS (Theatre of Pain and Suffering) and I can’t honestly say that my numb butt will miss the most painful seats in all of Vancouver but, to be honest, I can’t say that there wasn’t a slight pang as I walked out of there for the last time.

Perhaps there will be an Aslan-like resurrection or will the varsity style condo builders get their way?

Kind of cool that the flags that adorn the outside of the theatre are there because this was the site of the first international film festival in Vancouver; sad to see a tiny piece of history (not to mention some of the best popcorn) dissapear.
