drop your sword

I’m only lying here because I lack the strength to stand.

Five hours of sleep is not conducive to writing coherent blog entries. I’ll give it a whirl though. Back from the Charlottes and the peace and quiet of rural living. Earthquakes and hurricane force winds were two of the highlights of the trip although I realize that this makes it sound like less than the ideal vacation. I’ll never forget the perfect curl of the north shore wave which must have been a surfer’s paradise 3 kilometers long. Twelve hour cycles of sunshine and absolutely intense pouring rain and wind. Eagles peck and play with each other and grow increasingly wary as I sneak my way along the beach to them, freezing as I go. The total peace of watching the river that flows both ways depending on the tide; a canoeing dream come true. Thieves forest brute squad.

I can’t say it was easy. I can say that it wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be. There were good moments and there were bad moments. I’m glad that Christmas is over. New Years brought a fierce vodka-punch-induced hangover but, more importantly, a touch of peace. I start to see the way forward.

Then again, maybe I have the strength after all.
