conspiracy

This is just too cruel. Normally Vancouver eases into its wintery season a little more gracefully. You know, a few weeks of gloom between the gorgeous sunshine and the pouring rain. With the September that we’ve had I know that I have nothing to complain about and, truth be told, I’m *usually* the kind of person who enjoys the seasons. At the end of the last few summers I’ve actually been craving rain. But this time…no…this time it has seemed too fast and I’m not ready to give up on the sunshine.

So, who’s to blame? Well, I’m going to say Intrawest. It started raining the day after I received my invitation to renew my Whistler pass. Coincidence? (Early bird ends Nov 18th to all of you who plan on joining me in what surely HAS to be the best skiing season in years). Axe and I on the slopes together again after what…at least a decade or so. Is Whistler big enough for the both of us?

My secret to dealing with Vancouver rain has always been to translate rain here to snow in the mountains. This is the cruel time of year when I know that rain here translates to rain everywhere.

It sure felt like it was going to snow as we sat wet and shivering at Ultimate this morning. What the hell was I thinking not bringing my jacket? Next Sunday the good-ol poly-pro and goretex are coming out, I kid you not.

Rain fills the rivers to make waves on the ocean. A hug is warmer than sunshine.
