To be absolutely fair, I should really point out that Mars also has the highest mountain in our solar system, the inspiring Olympus Mons. At 78,000 feet (25 kilometres high) you really wouldn’t want to be flying your traditional 35,000 foot jetliner around now, would you?
It’s the thin atmosphere on Mars that allows for these incredible highs and lows.
Can you imagine what the view would be life from 78,000 feet? Utterly incredible, that’s what.
