Here’s an email that I just sent to the webmaster of EMI’s site. The reason that I sent it to the webmaster is that there was simply no other contact info anywhere on the site. Nice! </dripping sarcasm>
As a Mac/iPod user, I certainly have to say that I’m dissapointed with EMI’s decision to use copy controlled devices on their CD. I buy music so I can listen to it both on my CD player (when I’m around it), on my computer (when I’m at work) or on my iPod (everywhere else). It seems that there’s no way for me to get this music onto my iPod - at least that I’ve been able to figure out. The MacPlayer included on the CD does *nothing* to address this problem although I can listen to the tracks on my computer.
Yesterday I was at Future Shop buying some CDs - when I noticed the “copy controlled” label on the back two things happened. First, I asked 6 customer service people what this meant and not one of them could tell me. Second, I put the CDs back on the shelf. It seems that your strategy is failing badly. If I can’t listen to the music the way that i want to, I won’t be buying EMI’s copy controlled CDs.
Thanks for your time.
Anyone else had experiences with this? Anyone else pissed off?
I too send a bunch of emails to EMI.
the PSB-DISCO3 cd fried my former computer and would not play on my disc man. I was so pissed off about it I flamed them with a barage of stuff. They wrote back and claimed that infact they knew about its incompatability with several disc players and that they were not going to do anything about it. I stopped by CC CD’s. And with my new computer i refuse to muck with it in regards with the CC Cd’s.
Regards
Jay
