It’s been ages since my last post. I’d like to say something along the lines of that, due to approaching my first year of blogging anniversary, I’ve been taking a contemplative break but the truth of the matter is that I’ve been simply exhausted.
That night shift was worse than I thought and it’s taken me some time to try to get my feet under me again. Jumping into what is the busiest time of year where I work has not helped in the least and I’ve found that my fuse is about a second long. Unfortunately the people who pay the price of this (beyond myself obviously) are those closest to me.
Anyway things are on the up and up. I got my super-duper-wonderful iPod on Saturday and copied by 1100 songs onto it in about 10 minutes! Unfortunately I didn’t take to heart just how easily they do scratch when I went to see Matchstick Men (3/5 - bit of a disappointment). I pulled it out when I got home and there were minor scuff marks on the LCD - not a big deal really but kind of pissy for having owned it all of a couple of hours at this point. Anyway, I know that I can grab some iCleaner and get it back to its pristine state if I so desire.
Back to Matchstick Men - this movie made me develop a new acronym, TBTM ™ which stands for “Trailer Better Than Movie”. I really hate how trailers make a movie look one way and then you find out that the movie is really quite different. If you have been hooked in by the sort of wacky, comedy Matchstick Men trailer then be forewarned before you go see the movie - I did not get my wacky/comedy fill. of course, if I had gone in there without having seen the trailer I likely would have enjoyed the movie much more - it’s about setting expectations (as with many things).
On a positive note, has anyone here played the boardgame Carcassonne? I discovered in on the weekend at Drexoll Games and am completely hooked. If you’re looking for a *super* fun boardgame to play with friends then you should definitely check this out. Let me know if you can beat my record of a 32 point city (without the expansion)
