So here I am back again, safe and sound after quite an amazing trip up to the Canadian Arctic. There is really so much to say and a trip of this magnitude is quite impossible to sum up in a few sentences that I won’t bother. In the next couple of weeks we’ll be getting the huge numbers of photos that we collectively took organized and will try to sort them out in some semblance of order. With over 2000 pictures taken you can imagine that this process is likely going to take some time!

Having a very difficult time today of reconciling being back in the big city. One of the things that I loved about being up North was how easy it was to lose track of time. When the sun is up 24 hours a day and you are hiking through gorgeous wilderness our paradigms of time really fall out the window. Considering how slaved we are to days of the week, and what time it is, it is refreshing to note that it really *is* possible to leave all this behind.

Another thing I left behind in Auyuittuq was 20 lbs. I guess that hiking all day every day with a 50lb pack will do that to you. :)

I actually kept a journal of my time up in the Arctic and I was thinking of posting the entries here. Haven’t entirely decided yet.

What a trip!

Colin: I’m travelling up to the Auyuittuq park next year with Black Feather Adventure company. The pictures your group took are great. I like to ask a few questions about the gear your took if you have the time. I’ve backpacked a fair bit around here but I’ve never been that far up North. If not no big deal and thanks for the pictures,

I hope you do decide to post more of your Auyuittuq journal entries here.

I posted a comment under the last pic of your Auyuittuq gallery, but wrote he wrong email address. Doh! No wonder you never sent me a reply…

I’d like to know more details about what you brought (equipment, dry food, camping gears) and what you met (nanuk / polar bear, etc) in the park.

Thanks for any info you want to share.
