Talk Without Speaking

It’s been a long time since I’ve heard the term virus with anything other than computers and SARS. This all changed this last week as I succumbed to one of the worst sicknesses I think I’ve ever had! Last Thursday I was working night shift when I started to feel feverish. I was kinda expecting this since a few people have been sick in the office lately and Catherine was sick a couple of weeks ago. Actually I was starting to feel pretty impressed with my ability to fight all this off. So much for that.

Over a week later, I still haven’t been back to work. Wracked by wave after wave of crazy fever (Monday night was 104! which prompted a nice visit to UBC emergency), headaches, incredible painful stiff necks and incredible weakness, I am only now starting to pull out of this.

So all of this quasi explains my complete lack of blog-ness this last little bit.

Believe it or not I’m actually really happy that I got sick when I did. Whereas completely not pleasant here, this sickness would have been disastrous up in the arctic. I now have to kick the tail end of this bug and spend some serious time starting to plan my backpack.
