Small Things

So, was in lunchroom at work and was waiting to buy some yummy M&Ms from the vending machine. Jay was buying some chips or something ahead of me. Let’s just say that the chips were item F1 on the vending machine. Well, , instead of hitting F-1, Jay hits 1-F. She grabs her chips and wanders off. I’m left in dazzlement; my earth is momentarily shaken. For me, it never would have occurred to me to press the buttons in the opposite order; does this mean that I am not imaginative enough or that I am too confined by rules? And furthermore, to the vending machine makers, did they anticipate that some people would be outside-the-box and hit the buttons in the opposite order and therefore make the machines respond equally to either method?
