2nd Peace Rally

I had planned for today to be a nice, quiet, recharging day. Despite my best attempts I can’t seem to sleep in past 8:30. I know, life is rough eh?

Catherine was keen to go to the peace rally so I went with her. There were lots of UBC students who were marching across the Burrard Street bridge, blocking traffic as they marched to the art gallery. We met up with them around the theatres on Granville and then walked with them to the gallery stopping only for a silent sit-in in the middle of Granville and Georgia streets. Personally I found the silence far more powerful then any of the chants, sing-songs, screams, sirens, etc.

Far, far fewer people than the first rally at the gallery. I imagine that people are resigned to the war now that it’s started and casualties are starting to mount. It would seem to me that now is when the peace movement needs attendees the most but I can see how people would see this endeavour as futile.

After the rally we took the bus down to Richmond to go to consumerism-central, Costco as a favour to JM. That was entirely overwhelming considering our morning’s events.

Happily made our way out of there and back downtown where my monitor got a second lease on life. I decided that, rather than buy a new monitor and have this one end up in a landfill, that I would live with the bluriness for a while and see how it goes. The guy at Simply Computing did fix it so that the center area is iin focus although the corners are still blurry. No worries.

Oh, and bought a <yikes>eMac</yikes> out of the buy and sell. Amazing deal and I think I can make some money off of it by flipping it on eBay.

Gorgeous day, spring has come to Vancouver.
