Tragic news

On Tuesday someone at work mentioned that something might have happened to Heather’s brother. You know the way things kinda sift around work, news is second or third hand or who knows. I was concerned but didn’t think too much about it because I really had no way of knowing who was saying what. Yesterday we received an email from Rick letting us know that Heather’s brother was killed while operating a crane. Apparently the crane accidentally came in contact with some power lines. He was 32.

This reminds me of three generational death week in 2000. You catch a couple of uppercuts and think you’re doing fine when you’re dealt the body blow.

Heather’s brother would have died 10 days after she gave birth to Emma; it’s like some awful morbid ZPG phenomenon. For whatever reasons that I can’t begin to explain I hope that her brother got to meet Emma before he died.

On Monday I was bitching about how we all go on like nothing has happened when, obviously, stuff *has* happened. Of course, this is more of the same, but different. I think, after this week, that we’re all in a bit of shock and no one really understands how they should react.
