Talk Without Speaking

Yes, I did succumb to the pressure and headed out to the midnight (12:05am) showing of The Two Towers last night. <small spoilers ahead> I’m both excited and saddened by the inevitable frustration of having to wait another year for the conclusion. In any event the movie kicked major ass although I found there to be quite a different feel from the original movie. They certainly departed from the actual story more this time which I’m sure will incense some of the fundamental followers.

As or me, I only have one minor beef and that had to do with Treebeard’s voice which was done by the same actor that plays Gimli, John Rhys Davies. What? Is there a shortage of voice actors out there?? Were they trying to cut costs thinking that the movie wasn’t going to make enough money??? What the hell? Anyway, he pulls it of for he most part but there are times when this is downright annoying.

Not that this is annoying or anything but there is a scene in the movie where the Rohan refugees are fleeing to Helms Deep and they are ambushed by some Worg riding orcs. First the group is accosted by two scouts from the enemy and Matt said than one of the scouts was played by the same guy who plays Samwise Gamgee! What, did he get bored of being the good guy? I didn’t catch this myself so I’ll certainly have to be on the lookout for it the next time I see it (which I’m sure won’t be too long from now.)

Anyway, if you haven’t seen it yet, get out there and go see it tonight with all your fellow fanatics. I don’t think you’ll regret it.
